Highly Recommended Internet Marketing, SEO, and Web Development Resources Used by Meta-Bee

I’ve been marketing on the Internet since 1998 and I’ve tried a lot of different resources. Here are some of my tried and true favorites that I would like to recommend to you. I am an affiliate for some of them BECAUSE I love them, use them, and would refer them to you even if I was not an affiliate!

Domain Name Registration:

I use GoDaddy for domain name registration only. I love the easy way you can manage your domain there. I recommend that you buy your domain at GoDaddy and then change the nameservers to your website hosting company. It is really easy with GoDaddy’s great control panel. I will be adding a tutorial on how to do this as soon as I get time! When you buy your domain name, don’t buy anything else! Always get a top level domain (.com for pretty much everything unless you are an organization then get .org) It is about $10.87 for your domain name for a year and that is ALL you need from GoDaddy.

Website Hosting:

For hosting I exclusively use HostGator now. They are a green company (wind powered) and have AWESOME 24/7 technical and customer support and you don’t have to wait on the phone nearly as long as you do with GoDaddy when you have a question. You will get a fabulous, easy-to-use control panel with everything you need. Most of my clients just need the Hatchling account which is incredibly cheap. Unless you need your own SSL certificate, get the Hatchling. My world class programmer, Andrew, even says HostGator is really good and he has massive experience with different hosting companies. However, don’t register your domain name there. It’s too difficult to manage your domain name with the service they offer.

Email Marketing:

I’m sticking with aWeber for all of my email marketing because I’ve found them to be the most robust, reliable, and user-friendly of all the different autoresponder services out there. You can create unlimited accounts, nice forms, everything you need. You can disable the cofirmed opt-in if you want even though they highly recommend you do not turn that off. You can even split test your sign-up forms inside your control panel very easily. aWeber is also very competitively priced.

Handy Dandy Tools:

MySpeed by Enounce is an awesome and inexpensive little tool you can download that allows you to speed up (or slow down) playback of any Flash video. This helps you in two ways: 1) it saves you time; 2) I’ve found it helps keep your mind from wandering while watching video tutorials / training / courses, etc. because you are more engaged when things are moving quickly.
